Resources for Parents (click on any of the links in orange below)
Here is my Student Information Page: (handed out the first week of class) |
Here are some general information sites:
Youcubed is a great site for information on mathematical learning! Jo Boaler, the creator of Youcubed is a professor at Stanford University. Her website has a lot of great articles about Common Core Math that are easy to read and understand as well as some interesting research on brain development and learning math.

Common Sense Media is a fantastic website for all things digital. For parents who want to understand more about digital citizenship (safe use of technology) for their students check out the following link.

Khan Academy is a great place to start if you want to learn math on your own, or brush up on a skill. It would be great if you could navigate this site with your teen, so that you can both be familiar with the way it is layed out. Each lesson comes with a short video tutorial that is boring but helpful. I may have students go here from time to time as a prelesson for class. There are also many other subjects (biology, history, art computer coding) on this site that could be helpful for another class!
Khan Academy 7th grade
Khan Academy 8th grade
Common Core State Standands for Math

All math classes at San Marin focus heavily on the Eight Standards for Mathematical Practice. These practices are found in every grade level and in all areas of math class. They are listed on the CCSS website, as well as from the drop down menu under the Parent Info heading.
